Position Overview


The Administrative Assistant will assist the Health & Safety Department in the development, administration, and implementation of companywide occupational safety programs, as well as assist with the management of all safety documentation.


Responsibilities

  • Compiles job site safety compliance inspections including hazard analysis, safe work procedures, written reports and recommendations from supervisors and crews.
  • Responsible for monitoring adherence to the company safety program by all employees and subcontractors.
  • Tracking and monitoring of training programs/seminars for supervisors and field employees, regarding CSTS, WHMIS, Fall Protection, Orientation, Personal Protection Equipment, CPR/First Aid, industry specific related issues, etc.
  • Assists with preparation of safety meetings/toolbox talks, talk attendance and minutes.
  • Assists with the timely completion of accident/injury reporting to WCB and management.
  • Coordinate inspections, investigations, and occupational safety activities with departments.
  • Research occupational safety information to assure the best available methods and equipment are adopted to minimize the hazards in the workplace.
  • Assists in uploading and ensuring vendor compliance documentation is completed.
  • Assists in managing subcontractor documentation requirements.
  • Advise on improvements in tracking and reporting procedures.
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.

Qualifications

  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong English communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Ability to work effectively alone and prioritize.
  • Must be a highly motivated, serviceoriented and teamoriented individual with an attention to detail.
  • Basic knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations.
  • Enthusiasm for challenge and new initiatives are prerequisites.
