DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

HUMAN RESOURCES

  • Coach, advise and guide managers to ensure the professional development of their team, consulting on performance management, talent development, employee relations organizational development, training, compensation, talent acquisition, and staffing
  • Participate in the development of programs/policies/procedures that contribute to organizational development and employee satisfaction while maximizing efficiencies and profitability and maintaining a balance between employee/employer needs
  • Provide general HR administration support including but not limited to composing employment letters, updating and maintaining employee information in the internal system, submitting accurate and timely payroll changes to the accounting team for processing, etc
  • Responsible for ensuring that all policies and procedures are updated and compliant with all applicable employment legislation
  • Provide leadership and direction in the handling of employee relations matters, along with interpretation and guidance of policies and programs and any relevant provincial legislation
  • Oversee the benefit functions across all related companies ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
  • Make recommendations where there are performance issues and participate in facilitating resolutions
  • Effectively manage work and project demands amongst direct reports to ensure timely completion

HEALTH AND SAFETY

  • Develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate workplace health and safety action plans
  • Conduct field inspection to identify safety, health and environmental risks
  • Develop H&S procedures including preparing project H&S binders
  • Update H&S manual and applicable policies accordingly
  • Coordinate safety and training programs to ensure workers are adequately trained, based on the need develop and maintain related training records
  • Provide leadership and knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety legislation, WSIB policies and procedures, ergonomics, and environmental monitoring
  • Provide health and safety support to jobsite, office and field personnel by maintaining visible presence in the workplace and being available for consultation

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-Secondary education with a focus in Human Resources Management
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience
  • Knowledge of all provincial labour standards in the provinces where Company operates
  • Solid knowledge of Workers Compensation and Health & Safety regulations
  • Strong experience with Employee Relations and Human Rights complaints
  • Knowledge of COR (Certificate of Recognition) standards across Canada
  • Ability to coordinate and process HR forms and data in an effective manner
  • Supervisory experience
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Word & Excel
  • Ability to compile data and work to tight timelines for submission

Job Types:
Full-time, Fixed term contract

Contract length: 24 months
