The Learning and Outcomes Branch of Manitoba Education and Early Childhood Learning coordinates Manitoba's provincial assessment programs and provides support to educators and stakeholders on assessment-related issues such as the use of assessment results, school or divisional data, formative assessment and educational research to inform instruction and improve learning.

Qualifications:

Essential:


  • Experience with teaching and the development of assessment in a K8 educational context (English Language Arts and Mathamatics would be preferred). Experience with grades 912 may also be considered.
  • Experience leading teachers and development committees to oversee the design, development, administration, marking and reporting of classroom, divisional or provincial assessments.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop strong working relationships, demonstrate tact and diplomacy, and work effectively with others.
  • Excellent organizational skills demonstrating the ability to work well under pressure, multitask, adapt and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Strong problem solving and decisionmaking skills with the ability to use innovation and creativity to resolve complex issues.
  • Experience handling sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy.
  • Strong written communication skills in English.
  • Strong verbal communication skills in English.

Duties:


  • Knowledge of Manitoba's major provincial assessment initiatives.
  • Graduate level training or equivalent experience in educational assessment and evaluation (principles and practice).

Duties:


The Curriculum and Assessment Consultant provides expertise and project leadership in the development and production of provincial assessments with a focus on literacy and numeracy, including leading development committees and stakeholder consultations.

The Assessment Consultant provides support and consultation to educators, colleagues, and others in the field on matters related to provincial assessment and reporting.
