1 ‐ Part Time (.6) ‐ RPN

3C Surgical/Neuro Inpatient Unit
This position will involve working the Days & Evening shifts. The shift is not to be interpreted as a guarantee.

Reporting to the Manager of Surgical Services, you will be responsible for providing quality nursing care to a patient

population with predictable outcomes. As part of a multidisciplinary health care team, you will practice within the

Professional Standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario, the Philosophy of patient and family centered care,

mission vision, values and the policies of Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

Applicants must have the following qualifications:

  • Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario, or the
ability to become licensed with the College of Nurses of Ontario

  • Current certification in BCLS
  • Recent experience in Surgical Nursing with experience caring for pre and postoperative surgical patients with TPN,
Neuraxial Analgesia, Patient Controlled Analgesia, Sequential compression device

  • Ability to use the Nursing Process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) in conjunction with her/his
basic and ongoing knowledge to arrive at individualized care planning and delivery

  • Collaborates with Registered Nurse's when patients assigned to the Registered Practical Nurse become unstable
or have outcomes that are not as expected

  • Identify and recognize abnormal or unexpected patient responses and take appropriate action
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple nursing interventions
  • Strong interprofessional and communication skills

Salary Range:
$31.160 to 31.987
