Department Overview
- he Claims department is responsible for adjudicating Life, Critical Illness, Accidental Death and Dismemberment, Disability and Hospital claims for the Bank's Credit Protections programs and TD Life's Direct Life and Health programs. Adjudication of these claims involves daily empathetic and professional communication with customers who are going through a personal crisis, either due to significant disability or death of a spouse or a family member. This department is responsible for evaluation of medical diagnoses' and, the impact of disability on their ability to work at gainful employment.
Job Details
Accountabilities Include:
- Calculating insurance benefit payments for Creditor products which can include determining discharge amounts, accrued interest, prepayment charges, premium arrears, and applicable discharge fees on Lines of Credit, Mortgages, Loan, and Business Credit.
- Ensuring cheques, direct deposits and Electronic Fund transfers are correctly recorded, processed correctly from the applicable insurer, and approved by management.
- Reconciliation of Insurer's bank account.
- Ensure the necessary due diligence to maintain the accuracy of all payment transaction.
- Achieve satisfactory results on internal and external audits while following established procedures.
- Resolve errors that could put the interest of the bank at risk and follow escalation protocol.
- Assist the Claim Analyst with investigations and other administrative request.
- Effectively manage and promptly respond to all incoming inquiries.
- Meet and exceed all Service Level Agreements, accountabilities, and objectives.
- Process Legal Fees Invoices on Tymetrix, and update the litigation claim file
Job Requirements
- This position requires a minimum Grade 12 education plus Accounting, Finance or Mathematics background would be an asset.
- Solid working knowledge
- Word, Excel
- Superior interpersonal skills and ability to handle stressful situations with tact and courtesy
- Must be able to contribute to a positive working environment and have the ability to adapt effectively to a changing environment
- Utilize Change Management skills to promote and implement change positively and work as part of a team to accomplish the goals of our department
- Knowledge of Bank systems such as CIF, Loan & Mortgage System, and Web Business Banking payment process
- Knowledge of Insurance systems such as CPRM, CSC, CSS, Policy Admin ( Blue Sun) and Claims Tracking would be an asset.
