The Restaurant Server is responsible for all tasks related to food and beverage service in an efficient and professional manner, in accordance with brand standards.

This position is committed to providing genuine hospitality and meaningful experiences to each and every guest. This includes engaging in casual conversation and creating an experience by providing excellent service and anticipating guest requests.


Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Be present in the restaurant/lounge in full uniform before the scheduled time and ready to work.
  • Be equipped with the proper tools for the job including pens, order pad, corkscrew, matches, linen service napkins and most importantly, a great smile
  • Check for station assignments from the manager for your scheduled shift.
  • Doublecheck your station for proper setup and cleanliness.
  • Check and set up all misenplace for your shift. I.e., dollied plates, coffee, pepper mill, cheese grater, wine bucket, linen, water jugs, etc.
  • Know and inform the guests of the soup and any specials of the day. Be fully knowledgeable and able to answer all questions relating to the daily specials.
  • Greet all guests with a smile and appropriate greeting (I.e. Good Morning, Good Afternoon, and Good Evening).
  • Always use suggestive selling techniques and upselling skills.
  • Demonstrate product knowledge of the menu, hotel property and surrounding area.
  • Ensure all food and beverage items meet department and brand standards before serving to guests.
  • Inform your manager/supervisor of any guest complaints or problems.
  • Enter all orders into the POS system prior to serving, using the correct table numbers. This includes food and beverage items.
  • Serve and clear all food and beverage in an organized fashion and timely manner.
  • Issue and collect payment for guest checks cash, debit, credit card, voucher and gift certificate transactions.
  • Ensure all opening and closing duties are performed.
  • Ensure all tables are reset in a timely manner and are reset for the following shift.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Perform all other related duties assigned by Management.
  • Must comply with the established steps of service.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills

  • High school graduate or equivalent experience.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace and used by guests visiting the workplace.
  • Superior guest services skills.
  • Must possess Provincial serve safe certificate.

Mental Effort

  • Listening and mental attentiveness in fulfilling guests' requirements.

Physical Effort

  • Sets up and cleans up Breakfast buffet and tables on a daily basis.

Working Conditions

  • Frequent handling of queries from guests, and property staff.
  • Morning, afternoon and evening shifts, with minimum supervision.
  • Maintain good personal appearance at all times; wear proper uniform and name tag as prescribed by the hotel.

Type of Supervision Required
Reports to the hotel Kitchen Manager. Works under general instructions to prioritize and complete assigned tasks.
