The Municipality of Chatham-Kent has an opening for a temporary full-time Assistant Facility Officer in the Arts and Culture division.
This position is for a period up to September 2023.Job description
The Assistant Facility Officer monitors and maintains the safe operation and building environment for Arts and Culture venues including the Chatham Cultural Centre (housing Kiwanis Theatre, Thames Art Gallery, and CK Museum), Milner Heritage House, Ridge House Museum, ARTspace, and the Chatham Capitol Theatre.
Demonstrate Chatham-Kent's core values and competencies
Responsible for general grounds and facility care, and janitorial duties, including minor repairs as needed
Ensure fire and other emergency equipment is operational and in place
Complete daily, weekly, monthly and yearly care of the general facility and small equipment
Maintain a controlled environment throughout the facility, including securing and locking-up of buildings, and the safety of public facility users
Execute room setups/takedowns as required by a variety of user groups, including specialized lighting and sound systems as required
Assist with specific exhibit changeovers as directed
Assist with transportation of technical equipment within a reasonable radius
Respond to any unanticipated or emergency situations as needed
Assist specialized contractors/building maintenance supervisor with mechanical, electrical and HVAC maintenance as required
Consult with independent contractors and building supervisor on repairs/renovations as needed
Maintain appropriate inventory of equipment, supplies
Assist with maintaining accurate building records or reports
Essential qualifications
Secondary school diploma or equivalent education (i.e., GED certificate)
Experience in building maintenance (i.e., upkeep of washrooms, carpets, floors, lighting fixtures, dusting of furniture, small repairs, upkeep of grounds around the building),
Experience with operation of power tools (i.e., table saws, compressors, etc.) and technical equipment
Experience managing multiple projects and priorities
Strong interpersonal skills
Strong computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) (or similar software program)
Certifications, memberships, licenses
Electrical safety training, plumbing safety training an asset
Carpentry experience as asset
Work environment/hours of work
This position works both indoors and outdoors
This position works weekday hours, evening and weekend hours, as well as on call after hours and on weekends

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent has a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy. All new employees must be fully vaccinated (with booster) as a condition of employment unless approved for an exemption.
Driver's license/vehicle requirements
Because this position would be required to travel, a valid Province of Ontario driver's license with a reliable motor vehicle is necessary.
