Summary:

The Day Surgery Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) works in pre and postoperative area, provides direct care for patients of various ages who have undergone a variety of surgical procedures.

The RPN will function within the Job Description of a Registered Practical Nurse and the College of Nurses Standards of Nursing Practice for Registered Practical Nurses.

**Qualifications: - Current Registration Certificate of Competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario

Collaboration and communication skills with patients and health professionals
Demonstrated surgical expertise in orthopedic, general, gynecological and pediatric surgery
Ability to function effectively in clinical areas with rapid pace and high turnover
Ability to adapt to various clinical settings and provide appropriate nursing care to patients whose acuity and degree of illness vary
Preference will be given to a Registered Practical Nurse who has successfully completed Registered Practical Nurse Enhanced Skills
Upgrade (e.g. Medication Administration, Assessment skills, etc.)
Flexibility, reliability and dependability
Good attendance record
