Hours:
Teaching is normally scheduled between 8:00 am and 10:00 pm, Monday - Friday. In accordance with the Collective Agreement, workload may be up to 44 hours per week.

Rate of Pay:
$73,079 - $126,689 per year


Start Rate:

Upon hire, Human Resources will conduct a rate calculation based on completed education and work experience to determine the step within the range as per the Collective Agreement.

The Electrical, Transportation & Innovation department of the Marshall School of Skilled Trades & Apprenticeship requires a full time professor to teach in the Electrical post-secondary and apprenticeship programs at the Stoney Creek Campus.


Under the direction of the Associate Dean, professors in this department are responsible for providing academic leadership and for developing an effective learning environment using a blended model of in-person and online content delivery.


Other teaching duties may be assigned within the Marshall School of Skilled Trades & Apprenticeship on an occasional basis as required by the College.


What you'll be doing:

The duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Creating a positive, sustainable and innovative student-centered learning environment in both the classroom and laboratory settings.
  • Using a variety of teaching strategies most appropriate for the curriculum for both postsecondary and apprenticeship.
  • Using a variety of techniques to evaluate student achievement of learning outcomes.
  • Managing the educational environment to facilitate an optimal learning experience and student success.
  • Evaluating, revising and developing learning resources within the program.
  • Enhancing educational delivery and experiences using the College's MyCanvas learning management system and other technology to facilitate student learning.
  • Using the College's MyCanvas learning management system to present curriculum, testing and online activities.
  • Participating in program quality assurance, innovation, applied research and accreditation activities.
  • Participating in program, school, faculty, and collegewide student recruitment, industry & community engagement and marketing activities.
Other duties as assigned.


What you'll bring to the role:


  • Valid Certificate of Qualification and/or Postsecondary Diploma
    :Electrician
  • Construction and Maintenance 309A and/or
    Industrial Electrician 442A and/or
    Electrical Engineering Technician/Technologist Post Secondary Diploma:
  • The possession of additional Certificates of Qualification of the following will be considered an asset:

447A Instrumentation Technician:

-
433A Industrial Mechanic Millwright*
  • A minimum of five years of experience as a Certified Electrician and/or Electrical Engineering Technician/Technologist
  • Related teaching experience, preferably in a postsecondary/apprenticeship setting, is considered an asset.
  • Adult Education teaching certificate is preferred, but not required.
  • A postsecondary diploma or degree in a related field is preferred, but not required.
  • Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
  • The ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse students, employees, and communities.
  • Canadian Electrical Code
  • Installation methods (Especially motor control and Allen Bradly Rockwell RS logics 5000 PLC)
  • Electronic and Electrical Theory
  • Instrumentation
  • Schematics and Prints
