CLIENT SERVICE COORDINATOR - TRANSITIONAL HOUSING (1.0 FTE)

YW Calgary's mission is prevention, intervention, empowerment, and leadership for the benefit of women and
their families. We are committed to advocating for mental health, supporting those experiencing domestic
violence and enabling women's economic prosperity.

Transitional housing program is a harm reduction program that works with women who are homeless or at risk of
homelessness due to mental health/substance abuse, domestic violence, and poverty/lived experience. The Client
Service Coordinator position is a front-line role, acts as the first point of contact to residents and provides client
support to residents within the Transitional Housing program. You are responsible for engaging clients in activating
individualized, intentional service plans and facilitating access to all services/resources in support of client goals.
The Client Service Coordinator works closely with a variety of internal and external stakeholders in support of
client, program, and organizational goals.

You support women who have experienced multiple barriers in sustaining housing, to gain control of their lives,
achieve economic stability and live free from violence. Your organizational skills and experience allow you to be
calm under pressure, think critically and work from a thoughtful place. You get energy from being part of an
environment where everyone does their best to support women as they build a sense of social inclusion and
develop a sense of mastery over their lives.

This is a full-time

  • Temporary position covering a maternity leave until March 2024. This is a Monday to Friday
role that involves a rotating schedule working 7:00a.m. to 3:00p.m. one week and 3:00p.m. to 11:00p.m. the
next week.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
Provide Crisis intervention, Emotional Support, and take part in creating client safety plans
Attends to crisis situations (i.e., disagreements, substance use related crisis) focusing on defusing

situations before they escalate
Maintain records in accordance with program policies, organizational standards, and the mission and

philosophy of YW Calgary
Work with clients to identify and navigate appropriate community resources
Demonstrate proficiency in the service delivery process: assess for client needs, safety concerns, crisis

intervention, and safety planning
Use a strength based and harm reduction approach when supporting clients
Support administrative functions and maintain up-to date and accurate case notes / client information,

occupancy stats, rent collection as required
Keep up to date on evidence-based practice related to program, i.e., homelessness, domestic violence,

mental health, Substance use and feminist practice


WHAT YOU'LL BRING
Post-secondary education in Human Services with at least two years of related experience directly working
with individuals experiencing mental health and addictions, a combination of experience and education
may be considered.

Ability to shift directions, work under pressure and support overall team needs as required.
Strong Crisis intervention, conflict management, de-escalation, and resolution skills.
Knowledge of issues specific to women experiencing homelessness including poverty, trauma, domestic

violence, addictions, and mental health
Knowledge of the "Housing First" philosophy and housing models
Ensures all activities and actions are accomplished with an equity, diversity, and inclusion lens
Current CPR and First Aid Certification, ASIST, NVCI
