JOB SUMMARY
The construction industry has evolved substantially over the past 20 years in Building Science, a new concept across North America, becoming a singularity in construction.
In order to keep up with the industry requirements, we support our project teams to ensure integrity of our product and installation.
The position of Building Science Technician is involved from the pre-construction shop drawing reviews to onsite testing reviews, onsite peer to peer educational sessions and writing Site Visit Reports.
DIRECT AND/OR INDIRECT REPORTSThis position has no reports. This position only reports out.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
Leadership
- Teaching building science as a support to all other departments
- Advise project teams with regards to Building Science
- Review identified issues via educational sessions with subsubtrades & peers.
- Take all reasonable precautions to protect the health and safety of workers;
- Ensure that equipment, materials and protective equipment are maintained in good condition and that workers are wearing the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment;
- Provide information, instruction, and supervision to protect worker health and safety; and
- Cooperate with the JHSC following up to implement as needed.
- Work in compliance with the Health & Safety Act and regulations including using any equipment, protective devices or clothing required by the employer;
- Report any known workplace hazards or violations of the Act to the employer or supervisor.
- Conduct daily reviews of installed project envelope
- Review & Advise on alternate site condition resolutions
- Attend project testing & provide reports
- Educate and Explain the solution to the subtrades as provided by the project team
- Attend & participate in project meetings as required
- Building Science Reviews and Reports
- Perform any other duties as required by Management

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Building Science Graduate Program
- Recommended
- BCSE
- Building Science center of Excellence
- Recommended
- MASc
- Master of Applied Building Science
- Recommended
- Meng
- Master of Engineering Building
EXPERIENCE
- 5 years' experience in building science industry
- 2 Years experience in the field of Construction or Window industry
SKILLS
- Resourceful & Problem Solving
- Research
- High proficiency in the English language, verbal and written
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office 365 Programs
- Proficient use of Bluebeam PDF Editor
- Intermediate use of AutoCAD & Revit
- General Safety on a construction site
