Overview
Join our dynamic team as a Window and Door Installer, where your expertise will bring new life to residential and commercial spaces by expertly installing, repairing, and customizing windows and doors. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects, utilizing your skills in construction, fabrication, and precise craftsmanship. As a vital part of our installation crew, you'll ensure each project is completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards of quality. Your hands-on experience will directly contribute to enhancing the functionality and aesthetic appeal of our clients' properties.
Responsibilities
- Remove and replace windows and doors in existing homes (no new construction)
- Properly remove old units, ensuring minimal disruption to property
- Measure, cut, assemble, and install windows and doors according to blueprints, schematics, and project specifications
- Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques to modify and fit components accurately
- Perform heavy lifting of window units, doors, frames, and related materials safely and efficiently
- Hang doors securely within frames using appropriate hardware; ensure proper alignment and operation
- Shim and foam windows & doors (non-brickmould installations)
- Install exterior flashings with precision, seal gaps with caulking to prevent air or water leaks; apply trim carpentry for a finished look
- Read blueprints and schematics to understand project requirements; interpret mechanical drawings as needed
- Install fixtures such as locks, handles, hardware, cabinets, or other related components with precision
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards and building codes; maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Collaborate with team members on remodeling projects that may include electrical or plumbing adjustments when necessary
Experience
- Proven experience in glass installation, door hanging, or window fitting within construction or remodeling settings
- Experience with residential or commercial siding is a big bonus
- Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication machinery
- Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, and mechanical systems
- Familiarity with construction site protocols including safety procedures for heavy lifting and working at heights
- Background in carpentry, trim carpentry, metal stud framing or fixture installation preferred
- Experience with locksmithing or electrical work is a plus but not required
- Demonstrated ability to read technical drawings accurately; previous handyman or remodeling experience highly valued
- Strong attention to detail and pride in quality work
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Must have reliable transportation
- Knowledge of Ontario Building Code and best practices is an asset
