    Position Overview

    Perform responsibilities as a team member focused on the daily personal care, well-being, and safety requirements of the residents, in a way that honors their dignity and enhances their quality of life.

    A part of an interdisciplinary resident care team, collaborating with residents and families to uphold the mission, vision, and values of the Home.

    Execute all tasks following established health and safety regulations, policies, and procedures.

    Experience

  • Caring for elderly individuals and clients with dementia is desirable

    • Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Possession of a Health Care Aide Certificate from an accredited educational institution

    • Qualifications and Skills

  • Capability to manage and prioritize assigned workload
  • Ability to identify and pursue opportunities for self-development
  • Aptitude to handle various simultaneous demands
  • Adaptability and effectiveness in a constantly changing environment
  • Capacity to work well as part of a team and seek assistance when needed
  • Showcase resident-centered care aligning with the Home's mission, vision, and values
  • Meet the physical and mental requirements of the role
  • Demonstrate initiative, flexibility, reliability, and creativity
  • Proven communication skills in English, both verbal and written

    • Physical Requirements

  • Includes physical tasks like standing, transferring and moving residents and equipment
  • May face confrontations with aggressive or agitated individuals
  • Possible exposure to various elements like disease, radiation, toxic materials, noise, allergens, blood, feces, body fluids, etc.
  • Entails shift work and extended hours
  • Utilization of equipment such as mechanical lifts, bathing units, and weight scales

    • This role necessitates a recent satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check as employment requisites. The selected candidate will bear any applicable service charges incurred. A security check remains valid if obtained within six (6) months before employment commencement.

    Kindly note that an employee cannot hold multiple positions across the WRHA legal entity totaling more than 1.0 FTE. The WRHA legal entity encompasses various facilities including Churchill Health Centre, Deer Lodge Centre, Golden West Centennial Lodge, Grace Hospital, Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, Pan Am Clinic, River Park Gardens, Victoria General Hospital, WRHA corporate programs, and WRHA community health services.
