Elections Administrator
Under the direction and supervision of the elections administrator, an election clerk supports the facilitation of our annual board elections.
While an election clerk can expect to work closely with CSU staff in the execution of election-related work, an election clerk reports directly to the independent elections administrator.
Election clerks will be trained on election rules and procedures prior to the election.
Duties
In particular, the election clerk performs the following job duties:
Election Support
- Assists in the setup and maintenance of electronic voting kiosks, ensuring that all equipment is operational and ready for use throughout the voting period.
- Provides guidance and support to students using electronic voting kiosks, answering questions, and troubleshooting technical issues as needed; however, an election clerk cannot view or handle a student's ballot.
- Ensures the integrity of the election process by enforcing rules in the proximity of the polling stations and reporting issues to the elections administrator.
- Maintains detailed and accurate records of incidents, issues encountered, and any other relevant information requested by the elections administrator.
- Enforces security measures to safeguard the confidentiality and integrity of the voting process, including the use of privacy screens, space and crowd control, and ensuring a voter's privacy during the voting process.
- Collaborates with the elections administrator and appropriate staff to facilitate effective communication with voters about the voting process.
Other Duties
- Works safely, in accordance with our health and safety program.
- Protects the personal information of coworkers, students, and the public.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the elections administrator.
Qualifications
- Has
not been a Capilano University student in the last 12 months. - Six months or more experience participating in elections.
- Knowledgeable about postsecondary campus life.
- Personable, professional, and wellorganized.
- Ability to work effectively independently, or as part of a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
