Reporting to the Production Manager, the Production Supervisor plans, organizes, coordinates, and controls activities related to their production shop.
The Production Supervisor is responsible for meeting standards, production deadlines, and its team's productivity in terms of quality and delivery of manufactured products.
As a group leader, He or she is responsible for health and safety, support, training, and individual potential development. He or she must also make sound use of the financial and material resources available. The Production Supervisor also acts as an advisor to his immediate manager and representative of the company.Your responsibilities
- Coach and supervise employees to motivate them to work.
- Determine and maximize employee performance by identifying developmental needs and providing followup.
- Monitor the activities of his or her shop and follow up regularly with the group leader to ensure alignment with the production plan and established deadlines.
- Actively participate in the daily production review. Report on the progress of the various objectives, communicate problems encountered, and actions taken.
- Manage work attendance, monitor employee presence.
- Actively participate in the entire disciplinary process.
- Ensure the efficient use of human and material resources.
- Ensure that the information relevant to the work is communicated to employees and that they are allowed to express their views.
- Ensure that the productivity levels established in the budget are maintained and improved.
- Ensure that procedures are known and applied consistently.
- Support the continuous improvement of processes in the shop.
- Support the activities to increase employees' engagement
- Ensure that the sections of the quality assurance manual related to his or her work are applied with rigor.
- Satisfy the needs of internal and external customers by meeting their expectations.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, government, and corporate health and safety standards.
- Responsible and accountable for the shop budget.
Your background
- College or university degree in operations management or any other combination of relevant education and experience
- 5 to 8 years' experience supervising personnel in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and/or Lean 6Sigma certification
- Experience in a unionized environment
- Strong leadership, with a track record of achievement, in a context of change
- Strong interpersonal and problemsolving skills and good communication skills
- Team player with good organizational skills
- Resultsoriented
- Collaborative and flexible, if needed, to cover shift changes
- Ease with computer systems (SAP, MS Office, Time and Attendance systems, etc.)
- Fluent in French (oral and written) and functional knowledge of English
