Dr.

Turner Lodge requires an energetic, motivated, customer service oriented Cook to work within the Food Services team performing various activities within well established guidelines.

The Cook will be responsible for providing consistent high-levels of customer service to all residents, families, visitors, community partners and staff by providing prompt, friendly, efficient and professional service.

Completing daily written documentation is also required.


Job Duties

  • Prepare, cook and serve high quality meals that follow the preset 5 week cyclic menu, meeting the Canada Food Guide and considering seasonal and cultural preferences.
  • Ensures consistent quality food and service is aligned with the company standards and expectations.
  • Researches new recipes and creative ideas for the menu.
  • Ensures that hygiene standards comply with company and statutory requirements.
  • Responsible for appropriate written documentation; incident reports, chronological recording, communication book, and completing maintenance requests.
  • Include being familiar with, and complying with, safety rules, regulations, safe work practices, safe job procedures, and all other safety related issues. Observes and obeys all warning and information signs.
  • Reports any injury in a timely manner to supervisor.
  • Reports unsafe acts.
  • Keeps work area neat, clean and orderly.
  • Follows safe work procedures/practices and supervisor's direction.

Requirements:


  • High School Diploma preferred.
  • 3 years experience in food services and extensive knowledge of cooking and baking, required.
  • Food Safety Certificate, First Aid and CPR Certification, required.
  • Enjoys working with seniors.
  • Self motivated, strong analytical skills and detail oriented.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision and in a team environment, with the capability of leading the food services team when necessary.
  • Ability to perform routine, repetitive tasks on a continuous basis.
  • Effective time management and prioritization skills.
  • Work with the residents, families, public and staff.
  • Stands for long periods of time and walks during shift.
  • Must be able to hear well in a loud environment in order to respond to employee, resident or guest needs.
  • Lifts and carries supplies and equipment up to 30 lbs, throughout entire shift.

Hours

  • 6:30am3:00pm and 9:00am5:30pm
  • 4 days on/4 days off rotation
  • Approximately 56 hours biweekly
