Major Duties:


  • This role will be responsible for performing various types of product packing and shipping in accordance with established procedures and standards.
  • Support all departments by receiving incoming packages, inventorying items, receiving and checking the contents of packages against packing lists and invoices.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail are key in this position.

Specific Responsibilities:


  • Receiving and shipping of incoming and outgoing courier shipments.
  • Heavy lifting and rigging of large and heavy pieces.
  • Unloading and loading of incoming and outgoing trucks
  • Counts and sorts incoming packages to verify receipt against truck/courier waybills and suppliers' packing slips, while conducting visual inspections for damage.
  • Operates fork truck and other handling equipment to transport received materials to various locations in the plant.
  • Packaging of outbound goods, verifying quantities and conducting visual inspection, including special packaging requirements for exports.
  • Lead and assign daily tasks and organization of the material coordinator and material handler team.
  • In conjunction with the Warehouse Manager and Shipping & Receiving Group Lead, plan to work effectively to achieve budgets or be under departmental budget requirements.
  • With the help of the Warehouse Manager and Shipping & Receiving Group Lead, plan work to effectively manage overtime to departmental budget requirements.
  • Update manager loading to reflect workload and vacations.
  • Provide input to Director on employee performance
  • Follow all internal ISO procedures.
  • Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.
  • Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures. Ensures that proper PPE including gloves is used during the handling, packaging and unpackaging of products inbound and out bound where the safety of the employee may be detrimental.
  • Supervisors are responsible for promoting, monitoring and enforcing work practices which support the prevention of workplace illness and injury, as well as protection of the environment.
  • Ensure that equipment, materials and protective devices are functioning in a safe manner
  • Ensure that employees are working in accordance with divisional health and safety procedures
  • Applies progressive discipline as appropriate for health, safety and/or environmental violations Advise employees of the existence of any potential or actual health and safety risks
  • Provide appropriate instruction for safe work
  • Take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of employees
  • Conduct periodic inspections and audits in accordance with legislative and/or corporate requirements
  • Conduct accident/incident investigations, prepare necessary reports and communicate to line management, health and safety personnel and health and safety committee
  • Ensure that all employees, including temporary workers and contractors, adhere to safety requirements including the use of personal protective equipment.
  • Support activities and initiatives outlined by the Joint Health and Safety Committee

Qualifications:


Education:


  • Completion of postsecondary education in business or supply chain management or equivalent.

Experience:


  • Minimum of one year of experience in shipping, receiving and/or warehouse procedures in a tooling, machine shop or manufacturing environment. From a lift truck perspective, emphasis is on, and preference will be given to those with rigging experience and/or handling of large and heavy pieces. Good written and verbal communications skills required.
