POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

The duties for this position may involve but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining, enhancing, troubleshooting, repairing and documenting YRP's wireless voice and data communications networks.
  • Installing, testing, troubleshooting, evaluating and repairing vehicle related equipment: PC workstations, thermal printers, camera, antennas, vehicle interfaces, and overseeing troubleshooting of vehicle electrical systems.
  • Providing technical support and maintenance of communications control equipment/infrastructure, voice and data communications equipment, RF equipment, instruments and peripherals.
  • Providing technical support to end users within YRP and associated stakeholders.
  • Servicing and performing daily monitoring and scheduled preventative maintenance on the network.
  • Maintaining current systems documentation.
  • Collecting and analyzing data and providing adhoc or regular reports as need.
  • Maintaining an inventory of all related assets of YRP Communications network, including stakeholders.
  • Attending training courses, seminars and conferences as required and facilitating the sharing of knowledge with other members.
  • Work within a multidepartmental and team environment with effective communication.

MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Completed three (3) year diploma in electronics, telecommunications, radio communications technology or computer science.
  • Minimum three (3) years of previous experience in a related field.
  • Valid Class "G" Driver License.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Experience in the Land Mobile Radio (LMR) technology, specifically in the areas of APCO P25, advanced trunking networks, inbuilding coverage systems (DAS or BDA).
  • Strong knowledge and experience troubleshooting, managing, maintaining and supporting modern computer and networking technologies.
  • Experience in managing, configuring, testing and troubleshooting computer network infrastructure and devices which includes: Routers/Switches, WIFI/LAN/WAN/Cloud networking, IPV4/IPV6 and VPNs.
  • Knowledgeable in modern widearea IP networking transport technologies such as microwave radio, fibreoptical, cellular networks (3G/4G/5G) and WiFi.
  • Working experience with Microsoft Client/Server Architecture, Linux OS, virtual machine (VM) environments, network storage devices, databases, and Cloud hosted concepts.
  • Previous experience in a policing environment is an asset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer service context.
  • Proven ability to complete a multitude of tasks simultaneously.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:


  • Physically capable to repeatedly sitin and getout of vehicles frequently on a daytoday basis.
  • Able to manipulate large, sometime awkward boxes weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Participate in an On-Call rotation to provide afterhours technical support.
