    Position Summary

    Under the direction of the Executive Director, the General Manager for Nations Creations will oversee all aspects of Nation's Creation's manufacturing, sales, and graphic design operations. The ideal candidate will provide strategic direction, manage the financial aspects of the business, and effectively lead personnel to ensure the company's continued growth and success.

    Operations

  • Develop and implement strategies to drive business growth, enhance market presence, and achieve organizational objectives.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to establish long-term goals and ensure alignment with the company's mission and vision.
  • Oversee all aspects of production operations, including sourcing materials, manufacturing processes, quality control, and logistics.
  • Develop and implement efficient production processes to optimize productivity and minimize costs while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and ethical sourcing practices.
  • Oversee the sales activities to drive revenue growth and expand the customer base.
  • Collaborate with the marketing personnel to develop effective promotional campaigns and branding strategies.
  • Work closely with the graphic design team to create captivating and innovative designs for promotional products that align with client requirements and market trends.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, vendors, and partners to ensure timely and cost-effective sourcing of materials and services.
  • Implement and maintain quality assurance processes to ensure the consistency and excellence of all products.
  • Work with the management team on creating KPIs for Nations Creations

    • Leadership

  • Provide overall guidance to the Nation's Creation's division, including management of direct reports:
    Work planning, scheduling, payroll processing and assessment of staffing need,
    Hiring/promotion, staff development, coaching/mentoring, development plans, feedback, and conducting performance management reviews.Conflict resolution, discipline, and termination recommendations.Authorizing leaves of absence.Evaluating the work of staff and volunteers to ensure that programs are of appropriate quality and that
    resources are used effectively, and
    promoting shared team goals and collaboration among members.

    • Fiscal Accountabilities

  • Develop and manage Nation's Creation's budget, tracking expenses, and financial performance, ensuring appropriate systems and procedures are followed in order to provide financial oversight and budgetary control, in alignment with the Finance Administration Law and Finance Policy.
  • Implement cost-effective measures to maximize profitability while maintaining product quality.
  • Improve product costing and pricing strategies.
  • Preparing, negotiating, and administering contracts for projects related to initiatives, in alignment with policies and procedures.
  • Identifying and pursuing opportunities for supporting new activities and improvement initiatives.

    • Reporting, Compliance, and Administration

  • Responsible for ensuring compliance to all legislative requirements, including privacy laws with regard to documents, files, and information and that responsible authorized access and control over files/information and sensitive division or confidential or business documents and materials.
  • Ensuring that all activities and reporting are conducted in accordance with established Seabird Island policies and procedures, grants, and funding agreements, including ensuring accountability and transparency in the development, design, monitoring and evaluation of projects and programs.
  • Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and other applicable legislation, department policies/procedures/practices, operational guidelines, and perform safe work practices.
  • Ensures company, Council, and other reporting requirements are maintained such as identifying and tracking metrics as they relate to the deliverables, milestones, and strategic plans.
  • Evaluating whether strategic program objectives/milestones are met.
  • Ensuring reporting to Executive Director / Chief Administrative Officer, Chief and Council and the community is adequate and concise.
  • Ensuring Executive Director / Chief Administrative Officer and Chief and Council have a base knowledge of Nation's Creations issues; demonstrate and illuminate the value of divisions operations.
  • Accountable to ensure staff are knowledgeable of applicable health and safety legislation, are trained to act appropriately in emergency situations, practice safe program delivery, and operate equipment and materials safely utilizing safe work practices.
  • Ensure that documented procedural information is available and that necessary reports/follow-up to near misses and incidents are completed in a timely manner and reported accordingly.

    • What you'll bring

    Education

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Accounting/Finance, or related background required, MBA an asset.

    • Skills/Experience

  • 5+ years' experience as an upper-level manager.
  • Extensive knowledge in garment production and sales/marketing with demonstrated experience in overseeing production, sales, manufacturing, and graphic design operations.
  • Experience in personnel management, including recruitment, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Experience in reporting on key business metrics.
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Able to give and receive constructive criticism.
  • Proven track record of successful financial management and budgeting.
  • Familiarity with quality control and process improvement methodologies.

    • Requirements

  • Proficient computer skills with the Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Proficient interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Ability to agree as well as adhere to Seabird Island Band Human Resources (HR), Finance, and Information Technology (IT) Policies and Procedures, etc.
  • Knowledge, respect and understanding of Stó:lō culture, traditions and language or willingness to learn.
  • Experience working with First Nations community is considered an asset.
  • Valid BC Driver's License with a clean Driver's Abstract within the last 5 years.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check

    • Reports to: Executive Director
