Translational Genomics Laboratory, OICR Genomics Program


Reports To:
Manager, Genomics Production


Salary:
Commensurate with level of experience


Hours: 35 hours/week

Status:
Full-time, Temporary (1-year contract)

The responsibilities include:


  • Performing molecular biology laboratory techniques (PCR, qPCR, DNA fragment analysis) to support genomic research.
  • Knowledge and use of quality control methods in a genomics lab.
  • General NGS laboratory maintenance tasks as required.
  • Documentation and communication of experimental results.
  • Following laboratory SOPs and contributing to their upkeep.
  • Optimization of protocols and reducing laboratory activities to written SOPs.
  • Supporting more senior Genome Research Platform staff as required.
  • Evaluating new genomics technologies for use in future research projects if required.
  • Performance of highquality work in an ISO 15189/CLIAcompliant environment.

Qualifications:


  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology or related specialty, or recognized equivalent.
  • Handson experience in an NGS production laboratory preferred.
  • Experience in a cancer research laboratory or equivalent required.
  • Handson experience in Molecular Biology or related fields (genomics, genetics) required.
  • Awareness of or training in quality control methodologies (ISO standards, lean methodologies, Six Sigma) is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven sense of team building.
