The Investment Risk Management team supports portfolio managers in optimizing the risks in their products and strategies within established limits by identifying, analyzing, assessing, monitoring and reporting on both investment and non-investment risks.

We also provides independent oversight on how risks are managed by portfolio managers, providing analysis and advice to the CIO and CRO.

The Student, Investment Risk Management will assist the team on risk reporting, risk analysis and risk management activities.


Responsibilities

  • Maintaining the current risk reports
  • Supporting the implementation and testing of the new risk system
  • Developing working knowledge of AIMCo's portfolio and strategies to assist risk analysis, monitoring the changes in portfolio risk profile
  • Preparing various risk presentations
  • Completion of second
- or third-year undergraduate studies in Business or Quantitative programs (Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, etc.)

  • Must be enrolled in a formal work experience program (ex. coop) with remaining work terms available
  • Proficiency with programming language (e.g. Python, R, Matlab, SQL) is desire
  • Keen interest in the financial markets and good knowledge of finance, statistics, and risk concepts
  • Exceptional attention to detail, and an ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to AIMCo's core values of excellence, transparency, humility, integrity and collaboration, and inspires the same in others

Success Measures

Your success in the role will be in your ability to finish tasks independently and support various Product Risk projects.

You will finely-tune your attention to detail as the results of your work will be client-facing. Your enthusiasm and passion for learning will be supported by the whole Risk Management team.
