JOB SUMMARY:

Legal Services provides a comprehensive and complex range of legal services to elected officials, all City of Ottawa departments, and various boards and commissions (i.e. Ottawa Police Services Board, Ottawa Community Land Development Corporation and the Ottawa Public Library), in the areas of civil litigation, labour and employment law, prosecutions, and corporate, municipal, planning, development, environmental, and commercial law.

This includes:

administering the RiskMaster and Legal Tracker systems; querying information in these systems to prepare regular and ad hoc reports/data for Legal Services, other City departments and/or various stakeholders as needed; validating and running legal cheque production, and processing all other financial transactions for Legal Services.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Completion of 1 year college certificate in Bookkeeping and Accounting Practices

Minimum of 3 years of experience working in the financial module of SAP.


KNOWLEDGE:


  • Extensive working knowledge of SAP (Finance)
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping/accounting practices
  • Knowledge of Markview processes and procedures
  • Knowledge of City financial processes, systems, controls and accounting practices
  • Knowledge of the City's records management/information management systems and relevant classification codes
  • Familiarity with the City's claims process
  • City of Ottawa organization and political infrastructure
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers.
  • Knowledge and experience with RiskMaster and/or Legal Tracker is desirable

  • You will initially be paid 95% of your starting rate of pay, in accordance with the collective agreement.
