RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • To provide communications support for the organization, including the development and implementation of corporate communications strategies and plans, the development of print and digital materials and tools for both internal and external audiences, as delegated by the Director.
  • Within the corporate communications strategy: plan, coordinate and execute special projects for internal and external audiences to elevate the profile of the hospital and foster good relations.
  • Support key change management initiatives in the organization, finding strategic approaches and creative tactics to engage staff and physicians

  • Produce regular, effective and creative employee communications in clear, concise and appropriate language to communicate hospital activities, recognition and to deliver messages of an informational or educational nature.
  • In collaboration with the Director, ensure open, honest and timely media relations and contacts, and in the absence of the Director, to act as the primary contact for media. Is responsible with the Director for regular proactive placement of media stories.
  • Produce and maintain content for the corporate digital bulletin boards throughout the hospital.
  • Maintain the content, design and training of the QCH Intranet.
  • With Director, develop and execute annual Social Media strategy as part of external communications plan.
  • Monitor media reports on all issues related to the organization, healthcare in general and distribute daily media reports to the Management Team. Provide notice of upcoming stories/interviews with media to staff.
  • Share with the Director the responsibility of representing the Communications Department on a variety of internal and external committees and task forces as designated by the Director. Demonstrate the QCH values of respect, accountability and innovation.

REQUIREMENTS:


  • Requires a university/college degree in a communications field (Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Professional Writing) or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience related to the position.
  • Experienced communications professional with a broad set of skills
  • Experienced in communications planning, media relations, social and digital media & exceptional written communication skills
  • Must be naturally curious, a strategic thinker who will support the Director and stakeholders as a collaborative and persuasive trusted advisor
  • Strong attention to detail and a proven ability to deliver quality work in a timely fashion with limited resources is imperative
  • Requires motivation, judgment, experience, and professional skills needed to manage a diverse portfolio of communication responsibilities
  • Requires excellent "people skills", as success in carrying out the organization's mission depends on great relationships with people in the organization and stakeholders affiliated with it. This means that attributes such as smart, energetic, flexible, diplomatic, compassionate and unflappable are used to describe you.
