Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspection to ensure all De Havilland made products and products made/sold to De Havilland comply with Regulatory requirements, De Havilland Design Certification requirements, DHC-SOP's and DHC's customer specific requirements
  • Make (Approve/Deny) decisions on inspected aeronautical products, materials and related items and record results of inspection
  • Prepare and maintain detailed inspections, investigation, and certification records and reports
  • Record/document service or repair activities
  • Assess the need and manage the impact of De Havilland Quality Management System changes to the site's operations
  • Recommend changes in rules, policies, standards, and regulations, based on knowledge of operating conditions, improvements, and other factors
  • Recommend changes or corrective action procedures
  • Work with part suppliers and the DHC QA department to resolve nonconformance issues identified during inspections/audits and take corrective action to resolve and prevent future issues
  • Complete aeronautical production documentation review and analysis
Experience

  • A minimum of 2 years aerospace specific quality inspection and or equivalent
  • A minimum of 5 years of handson experience in an inspection, production, or handling product role
  • Experience in the maintenance of De Havilland DHC1 thru DHC6 aircraft types is an asset
  • Working knowledge of Canadian Aviation Regulation CAR 561, 571 and CAR Std. 57,561 is required
  • Knowledge of FAA Orders 1100, 8000, 8100, 8110, 8120 etc. is an asset
  • Knowledge of EASA design and certification rules and Maintenance rules is an asset
  • Understanding of Certificates of Conformance (CofC) issues by part makers and Airworthiness Release Certificates (FAA 8130/TCAA Form One/Easa Form 1)
  • Working Knowledge of the source and control of Government and Industry standards for the design, specification and control of "Standard Aircraft Parts" such as AN/MS/NAS/SAE etc.
  • Experience in continuous improvement
  • IFS ERP system experience (or similar i.e Total FBO, TRAX etc.) for the control and issue of aeronautical parts and materials is an asset
  • Must be willing and able to sign/certify Airworthiness Release documents
Education and Professional Qualifications/Certifications

  • Transport Canada accredited College Diploma in Aeronautics is required
  • Transport Canada Aircraft Maintenance Engineer's license (AME) M1 is an asset
  • Technical degree or diploma in Aerospace Engineering is an asset
  • Transport Canada approved Type training course on De Havilland Type is an asset

Skills:


  • Must have a strong attention to detail skills
  • Knowledge and ability to read and understand complex aircraft design drawings/blueprints and perform measurements/testing of parts made to these designs
  • Strong focus on both internal and external customer service with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.
