KAY-SON Steel Fabricators Ltd has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, results-oriented
Tekla Steel Detailer. Reporting to the General Manager, the Tekla Steel Detailer will work with the team from the start through to completion of a project, ensuring that detailing is completed on time and within budget and maintaining document logs throughout the duration of the projects.

This position will be working closely with the Project Manager and will be in close contact with clients and sub-contractors.

Producing drawings in Tekla, updating standards and organizing the drawing office are key duties of the position. You would also be responsible for identifying areas for improvement in your area of responsibility.

Responsibilities:

Draft and detail structural and miscellaneous steel according to customer drawings, specifications and company practices using Tekla software.
Detailing outputs include erection, assembly, part drawings, and associated reports.
Assist in shop drawing checking and verification as required.
Maintain inhouse drawing office (i.e. customer and shop drawings, specifications, RFI's, drawing index etc.)
Establish and maintain formal RFI log in conjunction with PM.
Assists in preparation and submittal of all necessary drawings, lists, or related files (shop & field bolts, mill order, galvanized pieces, CNC files, etc.) to the appropriate department in support of the project.
Complete detailed material takeoffs including structural and miscellaneous steel as required by Estimating department.

Qualifications:

Minimum 1 year steel detailing
Proficient using Tekla Structures software from 3D modeling stage to final drawing package for shop issue.
Microsoft office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Experience with 2D detailing software such as AutoCad
Ability to read structural and miscellaneous steel drawings
Ability to understand, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, structural drawings and specifications.
Must have strong oral and written communication skills
Must be a team player but also comfortable with working independently
Outstanding organization and multitasking skills.

This position is a permanent, full-time position, 40 hours per week.
