We are looking to fill the position of an
On-Call Certified
Education Assistant to support students at the Okanagan Indian Band Cultural Immersion School, nkmaplqs i snmamayatn kl sqilxwtet.

The OKIB offers a welcoming team environment and a rewarding job experience as you join us in providing services to the Okanagan Indian Band.

• Certified Education Assistant Certificate, or equivalent
• Current First Aid/CPR certificate or willing to obtain
• Two years of experience as Education Assistant is preferred, or equivalent
• Demonstrated ability to work with children/students who display challenging behaviours

• Assist teacher with preparation and organization of material and lessons
• Assist with small group instruction under the direction of the Classroom Teacher
• Provide one to one support for students in areas as directed by the Classroom Teacher
• Assist teacher in identifying ways to help and support student learning outcomes
• Seek information about student needs, academic and behaviour, from the classroom staff in order to provide the support needed
• Assist in managing classroom expectations through positive reinforcement
• Be a positive role model for behaviour; practice respectful student/adult and adult/adult interactions
• Supervise outside play at recess and lunch, while on fieldtrips, and assist in other supervision duties as required
• Manage incidents involving students to ensure children have a safe and secure environment
• Perform other duties as required
