  • The Network Administrator's role is to ensure the stable operation of the internal and cloud computer network. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links. The person will also analyze and resolve end user hardware and software computer problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training where required.
  • This role will indirectly delegate tasks to maintain healthy network operation to Network Analysts.
    Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • 1. Perform network design and capacity planning
  • 2. Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for network resource administration, appropriate use, and disaster recovery (Not DR plan)
  • 3. Suggest and if required establish service level agreements with end users
  • 4. Provision and maintain enterprise security systems, e.g. Firewall, AV, SSO devices etc.
  • 5. Design and maintain VCC; WAN and LAN (wired and wireless) networks as well as ISP connectivity
  • 6. Preform major network redesign as needed including critical connectivity components like BGP, etc. Keep up to date internet services security framework (e.g. SPF records, etc.)
  • 7. Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of infrastructure backend software hardware related to network operations
  • 8. Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services
  • 9. Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts 11. Manage security solutions, including firewall, antivirus, and intrusion detection systems
  • 12. Manage all network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, hubs, and UPSs for both wireless and wired network infrastructure
  • 13. Ensure network connectivity of all workstations
  • 14. Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports
  • 15. Produce a network roadmap for business planning purposes
  • 16. Administer all equipment, hardware and software upgrades
  • 17. Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information
  • 18. Administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions, and access rights
  • 19. Perform server and security audits as required by security architect
  • 20. Recommend, schedule, and perform network improvements, upgrades, and repairs
  • 21. Supervise and/or provide guidance to junior members of the team
  • 22. Other duties as assigned
    Qualifications


  • Education and Experience

  • Three year College diploma or Bachelors degree in computer science or an equivalent combination of training and/or experience
  • Minimum 6 years recent experience in network administration
  • Networking certifications from any vendor HP, CISCO or Juniper (ACEX, ACNT, CCNA, etc.)
  • Certifications in ITIL strong asset
  • Certification in project management strong asset
  • An equivalent combination of training and/or experience may be considered
Skills and Abilities- Working technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems, including all server operating systems (Windows, Linux, OSX, etc.)

  • Extensive support experience with active directory, DNS, web servers
  • Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards for both wired and wireless networks and cloud platforms (AWS and Azure)
  • Exceptional troubleshooting technics including but not limited to tool utilization like Wireshark etc.
  • Exceptional handson hardware troubleshooting experience
  • Excellent understanding of network security concepts and current technologies
  • Extensive experience managing Firewalls (new generation FW preferred)
  • Extensive experience with reverse proxy, NAT concepts and variety of Single Sign on tools
  • Good understanding of the organization's goals and objectives
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and l
