What can I expect to do in this role?:

  • work to dismantle a range of practices and attitudes that marginalize particular groups of students, such as addressing bias, building cultures of accountability and developing culturally responsive and relevant curriculum and curriculum-linked resources
- conduct analysis and provide advice to support ministry strategic policy development and implementation
- coordinate and provide educational expertise in the development and roll-out of province-wide implementation plans and monitoring strategies.
- provide information to school boards with regards to ministry legislation, policies and programs.
- develop and sustain positive relationships with stakeholders to lead effective consultations
- ensure compliance with ministry policies and programs


How do I qualify?:


Specialized Knowledge and Expertise:


  • You have knowledge and understanding of Ontario's publicly funded education system, curriculum implementation and specialized STEMrelated programming (e.g., science curriculum, computer studies curriculum, technological education curriculum, mathematics curriculum) developed through work within the school system as an educator and/or system leader to support the development of student tools, policies and programs that meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • You can build expertise to shape antiracist, antioppressive, and antidiscrimination cultures in schools and fostering culturally responsive and relevant, equitable and inclusive learning environments.
  • You have experience working with all facets of the education system, including school boards, teachers, and faculties of education.
  • You have experience using standard and emerging digital technologies and programs.

Policy Development and Research Skills:


  • You have knowledge of policy development principles and techniques to conduct policy development projects and develop policy options.
  • You have experience analyzing provincial, national and international data to determine strengths and weaknesses and make recommendations regarding their applicability and relevance to Ontario's education sector and decisionmaking regarding improving student achievement.

Communication, Consultation and Relationship Management Skills:

  • You possess effective oral and written communication and presentation skills to write and edit resource and technical materials, prepare presentations, correspondence, briefing and issue notes.
  • You have consultation and negotiation skills to lead consultations with stakeholders.
  • You can develop and sustain positive relationships and networks with all major stakeholders and encourage collaboration and cooperation amongst stakeholders on education policies and materials.

Project Management Skills:


  • You have proven project management skills to lead projects, design and implement work plans and manage all phases of work.
