Trans Mountain operates Canada's only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast.

We deliver approximately 300,000 barrels of petroleum products each day through 1,150 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta and British Columbia, and 111 kilometres of pipeline in Washington state.

As an Emergency Management Analyst with Trans Mountain, you'll have the opportunity to work with a progressive and fast-paced group of experts in the emergency management and response department.

This position is based in our Calgary Head Office.


The Emergency Management (EM) Analyst's main responsibility is to support Trans Mountain's Emergency Management Program by ensuring Trans Mountain Compliance to the Canadian Energy Regulator Act, the Canadian Energy Regulator Onshore Pipeline Regulations, US Federal legislation, other emergency management regulations, and company policies and procedures as they pertain to the Emergency Management Program.

The Emergency Management Analyst will report to the Manager of Emergency Management.


Key Responsibilities

  • Create and review technical documents for accuracy and completeness, correct errors, and spot discrepancies and anomalies.
  • Manipulate large data sets and documents into digestible formats to aid in effective decisionmaking and provide technical support for all other matters and requirements related to Emergency Management as required.
  • Help develop and implement tools/forms/templates required as part of the emergency management compliance activities and ensure that all documentation to support regulatory compliance is retained as per regulatory requirements.
  • Provide expertise and input as needed on EM regulatory compliance documentation and activities, audit support, and gathering evidence for CER and BC EAO conditions and commitments reporting. Support the preparation of quarterly and annual reporting.
  • Coordinate with, and support, Trans Mountain EM and Operations personnel to implement enhancements and changes to the Emergency Management Program, including process improvements and incorporation of required Program changes.
  • Support the team with engagement activities such as fullscale exercises, stakeholder and community meetings, workshops, open houses, and response activities.
  • Support the development of Trans Mountain's Emergency Management Program, standards, emergency response plans, supplemental plans, geographical response plans, ISLMS program and other program documentation.
  • Works collaboratively with the business to understand requirements to determine and develop solutions to meet business requirements.

Qualifications and Professional Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as Emergency Management, Engineering Sciences, Safety, Humanities, Social Sciences.
  • Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft office proficiency.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience.
  • Confidence and ability to communicate effectively to all levels of the organization, external customers, and suppliers.
  • Ability to write clearly and concisely for different types of audiences and deliver presentations and edit others work.
  • Flexible and able to work effectively within a team and maintain a professional and respectful manner with coworkers and external parties.
  • Ability to successfully perform multiple tasks in high pressure and time restricted situations.
  • Ability to review technical documents and summarize for other departments and/or Sr. Management.

Other Requirements and Information

  • Must have a valid driver's license and passport for travel to the United States of America (USA).
