Job Qualification


Education

Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing, preferably with a Bachelor of Nursing degree; current registration with the provincial regulating body.

Current CPR certification required.


Experience
At least three years of recent experience with progressive responsibilities as a Nursing Supervisor, preferably in a community setting.


Job responsibilities include:

Availability by phone between 16:30 PM- 8:30 AM to address CLINICAL issues brought forward by clients during the night

Provision of verbal clinical support for clients who call in with a clinical issue - IV issues, dressing concerns, etc.

Ability to complete a home visit should it be required between 16:30 PM and 8:30 AM - catheter blockages or the catheter has come out; palliative pain and symptom management issues or pronouncement of expected death in home

The hours of work will be Sunday to Friday, from with average of 12hours extra during the week, apart from your on call hours.

Exact hours of work may change based on the branch needs. On call coverage consists primarily of telephone triage and clients visits if necessary


Skills and Abilities:

Excellent clinical knowledge including intravenous, CADD pump, and palliative experience.
Excellent verbal expression and the ability to "talk" clients through procedures over the phone
Ability to make a home visit within your assigned geography between 16:30 PM- 8:30 AM


Other Skills and Abilities


Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to handle difficult situations in an objective consistent format; ability to work independently and effectively lead a team; above average report writing and communication skills with both Field and Administrative employees; valid driver's license and evidence of current CPR certification; solid knowledge of the principles, practices, and methods of community nursing and service delivery to clients as well as program development, implementation and evaluation.
