Job Purpose
The Sandblaster paints and sandblasts steel using a spray gun and sandblaster.


Responsibilities:


  • Displays a commitment to Waiward's incidentfree vision, values, and culture.
  • Cleans and prepares surface for painting using airpowered sandblasting equipment.
  • Applies paper and masking tape to protect unpainted surfaces as required.
  • Cleans and repairs sandblasting equipment regularly.
  • Loads shop with blaster material.
  • Assists painters in cutting in, striping and blowing down blasted steel and tracking piece numbers on reports.
  • Tracks pieces from the load list as they are being completed.
  • May perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Recognized trade ticket or Apprenticeship information
  • Problem solving skills
  • Ability to organize work

Working Conditions


The incumbent is required to work outdoors with moderate noise, extreme temperatures and numerous hazards including equipment and toxic fumes.


Physical Requirements


The incumbent is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: viewing assembly specifications for extended periods of time; and extended reading.

The incumbent is also required to stand and sit for extended periods of time and will require good physical attributes for painting in a variety of positions.
