Reporting to the Director of Support Services, the
Counsellor is responsible for working directly with families and individuals diagnosed with dementia to ensure they receive ongoing support and access to resources and programs to meet their needs.

Located in Montreal, Quebec, Alzheimer Groupe Inc (AGI) is a charitable organization that offers therapeutic programs to individuals living with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias.
Additionally, AGI provides support services to families and professional care partners, focusing on best practices in dementia care while sensitizing the community at large through education and awareness.
Job Type
- Fulltime 35 hours/week
- Monday through Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Friday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Occasional evenings as required by activities and programming needs
Duties and Responsibilities
- Respond to incoming referrals by exploring the nature of the call, e.g. presenting problem, request for service, precipitating factors
- Assess client needs, develop intervention plans and followups
- Identify participants' barriers to service, develop strategies to reduce these barriers, and monitor and evaluate results.
- Provide ongoing support to clients and advocate on their behalf
- Refer families to appropriate internal and external resources.
- Monitor and maintain client files
- Liaise with the interdisciplinary staff to assess individual needs and other community agencies and healthcare practitioners
- Develop and facilitate support groups
- Responsible for a Caregiver Support Program
- Assist in the Activity Centre on an asneed basis
- Deliver educational workshops and programs
- Participate in community outreach as needed
- Act as a resource to those in the community on dementiarelated resources
- Fulfil any administrative duties related to their position, for instance completing statistics, referral forms, writing reports, participating in meetings, etc.
- Other duties as assigned
Essential Qualifications
- Fluency in French and English is a necessity
- University Degree in Social Work or a related profession
- Knowledge of Alzheimer's disease and other dementias and the impact on people living with dementia, caregivers and families
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to integrate and collaborate well with other professionals
- Strong ethical standards and respect for client confidentiality
- Ability to demonstrate empathy, flexibility and leadership
- Knowledge of the Quebec healthcare system and community organizations
Remuneration and Benefits
$45,000 to $60,000 annually, commensurate with education and experience
Following a successful 3-month probationary period:
- 4% vacation indemnity (2 weeks); paid leave during December holidays
- 2 sick days, 3 personal days, 2 family obligation days per year

$45,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
