We are seeking a
Production Supervisor to join our growing team.


Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Production Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of production workers and ensures that production schedules are created, and all manufacturing/ production work is completed on time and within budget.

The Production Supervisor will ensure that the manufacturing of all parts and machinery are produced efficiently and safely, meeting Calmec's goals and quality standards.


Job Duties:

  • Supervise employees including Machinists, Welders, Electricians, Assemblers/Fitters, Labourers, Quality Control and Production Coordinator
  • Confer with management or employees to resolve worker concerns
  • Enforce health and safety policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Direct and coordinate the daytoday activities of the production team, procure materials and supplies ensuring all parts, tooling, equipment, and machines are available for the production team to remain on schedule to drive production
  • Create, develop, and manage production schedules to drive completion dates and meet overall timelines and delivery dates for projects, machines, jobs and work orders
  • Manage the ontime delivery of spare parts orders and machinery orders
  • Troubleshoot production problems and develop process improvements to improve efficiency
  • Monitor and assess employee performance
  • Ensure that work orders are completed in a timely fashion, within budget
  • Work with all levels to coordinate operations and activities within and between departments
  • Respond to customer concerns escalated from other departments, present solutions to the concerns
  • Demonstrate equipment operations and work and safety procedures to new employees, or assign employees to experienced workers for training
  • Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules and other records / reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs
  • Create and modify policies and procedures as required
  • Assist in the recruitment of production employees
  • Assist the Plant Manager in all areas of building maintenance, including equipment, supplies, cleanliness/housekeeping
  • Other duties as required

Requirements:


  • Diploma in a related field
  • Postsecondary education in a manufacturing related field
  • 810 years of experience in manufacturing operations and at least 5 years of experience in a supervisory or management capacity preferred
  • Direct working knowledge of manufacturing operations (machining, welding, fitting, machine building)
  • Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering, as well as inventory control of these items
  • Experience in managing thirdparty service providers
  • Computer literacy, excellent working knowledge of MS Word, Quickbooks, and Excel.
  • Handson experience with ERP systems
  • Able to maintain filing systems, databases, and basic diary/minutes management
  • Knowledge of local and federal regulations and ordinances
  • Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills
  • Meticulous records maintenance skills
  • Superior telephone manners and strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and verbal skills to communicate with all levels of the organization and its executive team
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • First Aid, Forklift license, Overhead crane Certification an asset
Working Conditions
Located mainly in an indoor manufacturing environment in varying temperatures. Personal protective equipment (safety shoes/boots, and safety glasses) must be worn at all times when in the production plant.

Occasional moderate to heavy manual lifting, standing for extended periods of time, walking, crouching.

Regularly works near active production machinery, in conditions that include moving parts, heat, humidity, and exposure to dust. Exposure to varying levels of noise as produced by machinery and related activities.

$65,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
