Hatch is seeking to hire a motivated, capable, and organized Civil EIT to join our growing Rail Division. In this role, you will be based in our Vancouver, B.C. office working on major railway projects in Western Canada. Both design and project coordination positions are available.


Responsibilities:


  • Design of alignments, profiles, and corridors for major railway projects using Civil 3D;
  • Produce all levels of drawings from concept to detailed design;
  • Collaborate as a design team to develop functional designs in accordance with regulations, laws, and design standards (CN/CPKC, AREMA Manual for Railway Engineering, Transport Canada Grade Crossing Regulations, etc.);
  • Develop quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and design basis documentation;
  • Commitment to highquality standards through quality control processes;
  • Conduct site visits and develop field documentation;
  • Attend client and contractor meetings as part of an integrated design team;
  • Review contractor submittals, such as shop drawings and material sheets.

Qualifications:


  • Degree in Civil Engineering or related qualification from an accredited institution;
  • Minimum 1+ years of experience working in a civil engineering or construction management role;
  • Construction, design, or railway experience is considered an asset;
  • Proficiency in Civil 3D, Infraworks, Microstation, and Microsoft Project is considered an asset;
  • Ability to work on several projects at the same time and maintain high quality output;
  • Capability to work to deadlines and work independently when required;
  • Interest with future technologies and its implementation with BIM;
  • Excellent written, and verbal communication skills;
  • Demonstrate a reliable, responsive, and positive work ethic with an emphasis on continual improvement.
