Based in Canada, Mapleview Energy operates at the intersection of energy storage, electrification, and resource efficiency, advancing practical solutions that extend battery life and strengthen distributed energy infrastructure.

Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for a Director of Business Development based in the Greater Toronto Area, with flexibility for occasional remote work.

The Director of Business Development will be responsible for building and managing Mapleview Energy's commercial pipeline across commercial and industrial sectors. This role focuses on identifying, qualifying, and advancing battery energy storage opportunities from early engagement through signed contract.

Responsibilities include originating new opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, running economic and technical feasibility models to assess project fit, and structuring commercial proposals. The Director will work closely with the Director of Commercial Engineering to align site viability, technical constraints, and financial performance assumptions.

The role requires ownership of pipeline tracking, customer engagement strategy, pricing discussions, and contract negotiation support. The Director will collaborate with leadership to refine go-to-market strategy and ensure projects are structured for scalable deployment and long-term asset performance.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in business development, infrastructure sales, or project origination within energy, utilities, or related sectors
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage a qualified pipeline in complex B2B environments
  • Experience developing and evaluating financial models, including savings analysis, project IRR, payback, and structured energy service agreements
  • Comfortable translating technical energy concepts into clear commercial value propositions
  • Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, finance, and operations teams
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple active opportunities simultaneously
  • Comfortable operating in a hybrid work environment with regular travel to client sites
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Economics, or a related field; MBA or relevant industry experience is an asset
  • Experience in energy storage, distributed energy resources, demand management, or C&I infrastructure projects is strongly preferred
