We are looking for a Plant Manager to lead our operational transformation delivering on our 10 year growth agenda, which we call our True North.

We engineer and manufacture equipment from Plows to Trenchers that install renewable-energy power transmission lines, water drainage lines, and equipment for the oil and gas sectors.

Role Description and Objectives:


Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Plant Manager plays a critical role in developing and implementing the True North strategy at Wolfe Heavy Equipment.

The Plant Manager will be accountable for leading the engineering and production teams, which design and produce Wolfe product. This includes the Engineering, Production Control & Supply Chain, CNC Plasma and Bending, Welding, and Assembly / Test teams.


The Plant Manager is accountable to define the business strategy (True North) that delivers on Wolfe's growth agenda and goals.

The Plant Manager will use the True North process to ensure clear Purpose (direction), the right culture and team, and effective processes are developed and implemented.

Defining the strategy and executing the transformation in an engaging way will be a key focus for this role.


True North also includes working collaboratively with Business Development to define the company(s) brand, actively manage the sales pipeline to ensure rateable revenue, implementation of quoting and order entry processes, and developing a clear understanding of customer value that the business delivers to.


The Plant Manager will be responsible for the company(s) profit and loss, and will be accountable for business performance with respect to exceeding our customer expectations.

(Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost)

The Plant Manager will coach and mentor their team, to ensure consistently improved capability and capacity. They will identify, develop, and coach high potential employees to deliver area results.

The Plant Manager will also be accountable to develop the defined culture and ensure Wolfe is a great place for our team members to develop their careers.


Duties and Responsibilities:


Vision and Purpose

  • Collaborate with the leadership team on developing and implementing the True North roadmap to deliver on 10year growth plan (strategy and execution)
  • Ensure strategic deployment of initiatives, excellence in execution of the strategy
  • Ensure alignment of the team with business leadership in strategy and execution
  • Implement the Parmerit Business System

Business Performance & Process Excellence

  • Budget preparation and monitoring of P&L
  • Implementation and achievement of performance targets (True North, Operational Budgets)
  • Analyze and report on the plant's daily, monthly and annual key performance indicators and industry trends
  • Develop and implement strategies around improving the financial performance of the department
  • Define and implement the required processes such that the business runs effectively (process vs effort)
  • Accountable for customer experience and exceeding expectations (Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Value)
  • Handle customer enquiries and complaints which are escalated from Business Development or Service Team
  • Work with the team to shift the way of working to being more process focused
  • Responsible for appropriate staff levels to meet requirements of the business
  • Responsible for recruitment, hiring, terminations and performance management
  • Ensure that all reporting employees adhere to company policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management
  • Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills
  • Able to identify key issues; creatively and strategically overcome internal challenges or obstacles
  • A welldefined sense of diplomacy, including negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills
  • Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
