Position Description:

The Substance Use Education and Practice Change project aims to promote learning and practice change in support of best practices for the identification, assessment and care for patients with substance use and substance use disorders at SickKids.

Related work is the implementation of a recently approved Clinical Practice Guideline (CPG) for this patient population, that will have specific learning needs for those working in various clinical areas of the hospital (e.g emergency room, paediatric medicine units, psychiatry team, PICU staff).


Here's What You'll Do:


  • Collaborate with project sponsors ensuring that all requirements, risks, potential obstacles, and outcomes are clearly understood and incorporated into the project plan
Develop change management and implementation strategies, ensuring that all the participating parties have committed to effective implementation of the processes and procedures
Facilitate meetings with key stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle, to ensure positive tracking against project milestones and financial metrics, ensuring the project will be completed on time and within budget
Actively participate in departmental / program meetings or rounds to acquire and disseminate knowledge and to profile projects
Ensure the delivery of project status reports to the project sponsors and key stakeholders, providing options and recommendations for corrective action to meet objectives when necessary
Develop project synopses at project close to determine learnings and best practices for implantation in future projects
Collaborate with teams, committees, internal and external partners / clients as needed to develop opportunities to exchange information to incorporate new knowledge into project plans as appropriate

Here's What You'll Need**:


Essential Requirements

  • Related work experience in project management and implementation of projects
3 to 5 years managing increasingly complex projects, preferably within the healthcare sector
Excellent data analytic and data management skills, preferably within the healthcare sector- Demonstrated capacity to prepare data driven reports and presentations
Exemplary communication, organization, facilitation, collaboration, and relationship management skills
Capacity to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment with multiple shifting priorities
Ability to work in a highly accountable, measurement informed environment
An ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage activities both for self and for others
Excellent multi-tasking skills with the ability to plan, set priorities, meet deadlines, and work confidently under pressure
Self-directed and innovated behavior, with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Strong writing, facilitation, and presentation skills
Strong knowledge of project management processes and the project management life cycle
In depth knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools (ie: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
Demonstrated commitment and actions in advancing equity, diversity and inclusion objectives

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation or in progress
Experience in grant writing

Experience in workflow analysis and simplification techniques
