Cameco's climate change team within the corporate safety, health, environment, quality, and regulatory relations department is focused on supporting the reduction of operational and value chain greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions; proactively managing climate-related risks and opportunities relevant to our operations and value chain; preparing and communicating climate action reports and information; and engaging on climate-related policy and regulation.
In support of these activities, you will be responsible to:
- Analyse and interpret energy or GHG emissions and climate risk management and adaptation data
- Analyse and interpret the impacts of proposed and existing climaterelated policy and regulation directly with various levels of government and/or indirectly via industry association participation
- Work collaboratively and crossfunctionally with internal groups and individuals from a variety of professional backgrounds and disciplines
- Assist in and/or lead energy and emissions management initiatives of industrial processes and buildings to identify improvement opportunities
- Assist in and/or lead climaterelated physical risk management and adaptation assessments and organizational engagement activities
- Assist in the prioritization, leadership, and implementation of energy and GHG conservation and/or climate risk management and adaptation projects
- Assist in the development of materials to support Cameco's climate action reporting and disclosure requirements for internal and external audience as needed
- Measure and verify energy or GHG reductions associated with energy projects
- Support continued development and implementation of energy metering and programming processes within Cameco's energy management information system, including development of dashboards and data processing automation
This is a permanent full-time role.
Education and Qualifications
Requirements of the position:
- Bachelor's degree in relevant applied or social science, engineering, environmental, policy or business field
- Three or more years of relevant experience (e.g., climate change, energy and emissions management and/or measurement/verification for industrial systems and buildings, climate risk management and/or adaptation, as well as climaterelated policy/regulation)
- Strong communication, collaboration, project management, and data analytics skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 programs (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, Outlook)
Assets:
- Previous experience in the mining or nuclear industry
- Applicable professional designation (e.g., energy or GHG emissions management training, certification, or certification in progress, project management professional, climate risk and/or sustainability certification)
- Familiarity with Canadian and Saskatchewan regulations governing GHG emissions
- Familiarity with globally recognized climaterelated disclosure and reporting requirements (e.g., International Sustainability Standards Board, Taskforce for Climaterelated Financial Disclosures, Global Reporting Initiative, CDP, Canadian Securities Administrators)
