We are the Emergency Response & Business Continuity team, dedicated to coordinating and supporting corporate preparedness, risk mitigation, crisis management, and business continuity efforts to ensure safety for our team members and maintain connectivity for our communities and customers through all stages of the emergency management lifecycle.
As the Emergency Response and Business Continuity Manager at TELUS, you will lead the organization's response to crises and emergencies by creating strategies to mitigate risks, develop emergency playbooks, collaborate with teams and partners, and oversee projects to strengthen TELUS' resilience. Your role includes on-call rotations, quick decision-making, and effective leadership during high-pressure situations to protect operations and uphold business continuity.
What you'll be doing:
● Establish and nurture relationships with emergency management partners, safety agencies, and infrastructure partners.
● Participate in on-call rotations to ensure round-the-clock availability for crisis management.
● Monitor threats to team members, infrastructure, reputation, and services.
● Lead the crisis management team and response efforts during emergencies.
● Collaborate with various agencies during emergency events.
● Maintain the Emergency Operation Centre and communication channels.
● Aid teams in developing emergency playbooks to boost resilience.
● Manage projects enhancing TELUS' resilience.
● Work with teams to implement risk mitigation strategies and ensure continuity in disruptions.
● Support emergency preparedness initiatives to improve response capabilities.
● Develop emergency response training programs.
● Represent TELUS in conferences to educate stakeholders on the Emergency Response and Business Continuity Program.
Your skills and qualifications:
● Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Emergency Management, Business Continuity, or related field.
● Professional certifications such as Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) or Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) are beneficial.
● Experience in risk management or crisis response in telecom, infrastructure, or technology.
● Strong analytical skills for decision-making under pressure.
● Excellent communication and leadership skills to engage stakeholders.
● Proficient in providing briefings to senior leadership and agencies.
● Knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards in emergency management and business continuity.
Additional assets:
● Proficiency in French.
● Understanding of telecoms, utilities, or critical infrastructure.
● Familiarity with Canadian geography and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
