We're looking for a mission-driven Information Service Coordinator who is passionate about creating more accessible, inclusive, and equitable communities across Canada where people with low vision have unlimited opportunities and can experience life free from barriers and discrimination.


Your Impact at CNIB:


  • Assist in mobilizing CNIB's national advocates and the wider community to support national advocacy initiatives.
  • Develop materials, guides, and toolkits to effectively implement national advocacy initiatives for regional and local CNIB advocacy staff.
  • Coordinate public outreach efforts with regional and local CNIB advocacy staff.
  • Provide communication support such as content creation, key messages, and social media.
  • Track and organize information pertaining to CNIB stakeholders and target audience.
  • Support CNIB public policy initiatives.
  • Provide support with the development of the CNIB Guide Dog Handlers and Police Training project, funded by The Law Foundation of Ontario

Requirements:


Who you are:


  • Knowledge and experience in advocacy.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Mature and responsible.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset.
  • Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset.

Eligibility:

This position is funded through Canada Summer Jobs.

To be eligible to participate in the Canada Summer Jobs initiative, individuals must:


  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment.
  • Be a Canadian citizens, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations. International students are not eligible participants. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian citizens or permanent residents.
