The
Assistant Plant Manager is an essential role within our advanced manufacturing facility.

Reporting to the Plant Manager and in preparation to learn and take over the Plant Manager's responsibilities upon his retirement in approximately 6 months, the
Assistant Plant Manager would focus on achieving results and motivating team members to meet production and safety goals, contributing to continuous improvement, while providing leadership in a fast-paced work environment.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**- Working to achieve Company's business objectives and production schedules

  • Analyzing engineering inputs including drawings and other technical information
  • Distributing and scheduling all manufacturing activities in the shop including inspection, machining, assembly and testing
  • Ensuring critical issues are promptly and professionally addressed and documented in coordination with other relevant departments
  • Developing plans and processes to minimize manufacturing costs through effective utilization of workers, equipment, facilities, materials, capital and outsourcing
  • Ensuring that all duties and responsibilities are completed in accordance with the Company's Health and Safety Policies and Procedures
  • Providing a safe, injuryfree and clean work environment for employees, contractors, visitors through engagement, job hazard analysis, training programs, good work practices, while adhering to
    MIT standards and proactive elimination of exposures
  • Overseeing up to date safety certifications
  • Ensuring
    MIT's Quality Standards are strictly adhered to in keeping with Controlled Goods, ISO and other standards
  • Developing action plans for continuous improvement
  • Motivating the workforce through an active presence on the production floor
  • Working with Plant Manager to establish improvements
  • Ensuring that the training of Plant Staff is ongoing and progressive
  • Facilitating progressive discipline as required in the Plant
  • Ensuring implementation of action plan to reduce seconds, scrap and product deficiency
  • Supporting inventory counts
  • Willing to work extra hours including for emergency breakdowns and "oncall"
  • Monitoring and managing overtime and overtime reductions during slow demands
  • Adhering to purchasing policies, procedures and directives
  • Overseeing Shipping and Receiving Activities
  • Providing Monthly operations forecast and other reports as required
  • Other duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Five (5) plus years of supervisory experience, preferably in plant operations and automation in a closely related industry
  • Proven and sound knowledge of high precision high tech equipment manufacturing industry such as for metal stamping, automated machine assembly, etc.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor and perform effective labour management for at least 25 direct reports
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Proven problem solving skills in a fastpaced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
  • The ability to work effectively at all levels in an organization
  • Intermediate computer skills using Microsoft Office
  • Experience with MRP would be considered an asset
  • Strong English verbal and written communication skills
