Position Overview:


  • Open to bargaining unit employees only. This job posting serves as a canvass for interested volunteers to assist with temporary peaks in work under the Aircraft Log Controller classification. Employees expressing their interest are asked to submit an updated resume as instructed below on or before the "close date". Employees expressing interest will be screened in accordance with article a) of the collective agreement. Temporary assignments are intended to be rotational and as such length of assignments will be determined after screening.
The incumbent is directly responsible to Manager Production Control. Day to day activity is carried out under the supervision of a Production Control Supervisor.

The Aircraft Log Controller (ALO) will report to the IMP Aerospace and Defence location near the Halifax International Airport.


What You Will Do:


  • Collect data, produce, complete and maintain all necessary reports and documentation.
  • Specifically,
  • Review completed hard copy work orders for accuracy (correct work unit code, fault, fix, disposal code, serial number, etc) and make necessary amendments.
  • Update hard copy work order electronically with correct coding in JDE
  • Carry out Aircraft Maintenance Management Information System (AMMIS) function electronically in JDE
  • Perform other tasks as required within the classification.

What You Will Bring:


  • Minimum education level of Grade 12 or the equivalent with related training and experience.
  • Formal training and experience of conducting maintenance of aviation/aircraft log sets is highly desirable.
  • The Aircraft Log Controller possesses a detailed knowledge of aircraft logs, records and customer reporting systems (ADAM/AMMIS) and be proficient in carrying out administrative tasks. Working knowledge of TCCA, FAA, DND & USN regulations is an asset. Is capable of working with MS Office Products (Excel, and Outlook, Microsoft office). Is familiar with and complies with all safety regulations, security regulations and Company procedures/orders.
  • Strong teamwork skills, with a clear ability to successfully interface with internal departments and customers. Has the ability to organize, schedule and plan daily activities with minimum supervision. Has the ability to actively participate in group discussion, leading where required.
  • Directly responsible to Director Master Control Centre. Day to day activities are carried out under the supervision of Control Center Supervisor.
  • Job is mostly carried out in a shared office, but frequently requires activity to be undertaken in a plant or shop environment. Must be physically fit to perform the duties described. The aerospace environment may be hazardous to respiratory, vision and hearing functions; appropriate protective devices (personal & company supplied) must be worn.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to IMP Occupational Health, Safety and Environment policies. Continually focusing on your individual safety and the safety of others who may be affected by your work and to fully comply with all Federal Health and Safety Legislation.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement, Lean & 5S activities in your area.
  • Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Secret Level II Security Clearance through PSPC
  • Contract Security Program, and Transport Canada RAIC clearance.
