About Our Opportunity:


A key priority for the Department will be to identify and support innovative tools and research that will help Nova Scotian businesses and workers to enhance their capacity to participate in the economic opportunities afforded by the energy transformation, including providing a clear pathway for the adoption of clean technologies.

Accelerating Nova Scotia's energy transformation will help to meet the Province's sustainable development goals, provide a pathway for the Government of Canada, other institutions and larger customers to obtain renewable electricity for their operations in Nova Scotia, improve the competitiveness of Nova Scotian businesses, and support increased energy choices for consumers.

This includes providing support to the solar, wind and storage industries, clean transportation sector, energy efficiency sectors.

The position also involves collaborating with various industry and public sector stakeholders, including Nova Scotia Power Inc., to allow for greater integration of renewable electricity in the Nova Scotia electrical grid.


Primary Accountabilities:

In this position, you will be under the general supervision of one of the following Divisions in the Clean Energy Branch:

  • A: Clean Electricity Division. The Division's focus areas included the transition from coal to renewables, solar and wind programs, and grid technologies and batteries.

Your primary accountabilities will include:

  • Working collaboratively with senior staff on policy and regulatory analysis, development and implementation for Wind and Solar programming in the province.
  • Playing a key role in providing program administration support to the Green Choice, and Community Solar programs which may include tracking/coding correspondence, engaging with stakeholders, and preparing briefing notes.
  • Offering policy guidance for a range of renewable electricity projects, programs, and initiatives.
  • Preparing presentations, reports, and other materials for senior leadership.

B:
Clean Transportation Division. The Division's focus areas include active transportation, transportation demand management, and electrification of transportation.


Your primary accountabilities will include:

  • Working collaboratively with staff to support research and policy analysis, development and implementation for active transportation, transportation demand management, electrification of transportation and other innovative initiatives in the province.
  • Supporting program administration staff for the Low Carbon Communities and/or Investing in Canada Infrastructure funding programs, which may include tracking/coding correspondence, engaging with stakeholders, and preparing briefing notes.
  • Preparing presentations, reports, and other materials for senior leadership.

C:
Clean Buildings Division. The Division's focus areas include energy efficiency programs, home fuel switching, and net zero buildings.


Your primary accountabilities will include:

  • Working collaboratively with staff to support research and policy analysis, development and implementation for energy efficiency initiatives in the province.
  • Offering policy research and support related to Advanced Building Code adoption, Green Workforce Development, BIPOC energy training programs, home energy efficiency programming, among other initiatives.
  • Working with the federal and other provincial and territorial governments on the advancement and implementation of components of the Pan-Canadian Framework on Clean Growth and Climate Change
  • Preparing presentations, reports, and other materials for senior leadership.

Qualifications and Experience:


  • Clearly indicate course work or experience related to sustainable renewable energy, electricity legislation and regulations, climate change mitigation, stakeholder/community engagement, and/or policy analysis in your resume.

  • Possess organization, time management, and prioritization skills.
  • Have strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and problemsolving skills.
