What can I expect to do in this role?: In this role you will:

prepare a wide variety of foods through standard volume cooking methods, ensuring adherence to prescribed menus, works schedules and dietary charts;

- maintain cleanliness of food services area, equipment/utensils;
- assist in the receiving and stocking of food items;
- assist with inventory of supplies;
- perform other duties related to the operation of a large school cafeteria.

How do I qualify?:

Knowledge and Experience:

You have thorough knowledge of food preparation, storage techniques/procedures and proper kitchen equipment operations, normally acquired through completion of a postsecondary education in chef/cook training course or related work experience;
Completed Food Handlers Certificate or willingness to obtain;
You have demonstrated experience in institutional cooking methods and procedures, especially in large volume cooking;
You have experience operating commercial/institutional food preparation equipment;
You know nutritional principles to assist in planning menus.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

You have excellent communication skills including the ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions;
You have the ability to work independently and as a team member;
Ability to communicate in American Sign language (ASL) or willingness to learn.

Physical Work:

You have the ability to work shifts and perform physical work
