Description

Due to continued growth and project success, we are currently seeking a Pedestrian Modeller, to join our urban planning and mobility team in Toronto.


Mott MacDonald's Urban Planning & Mobility Practice supports our business across Canada with expertise in transportation planning, modelling, urban development & master planning, and environmental planning & approvals.

Our projects focus on transportation policy, operations & change and infrastructure design. Our Canadian offices are in Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary.


In addition to both leading and supporting projects in Canada, we support the delivery of projects for Mott MacDonald's clients across the US and globally.


Duties will include:

  • Engaging with clients, stakeholders, and partners in multimodal modelling including government and private sector organizations;
  • Providing transportation modelling and analytical expertise to the design and delivery of transportation infrastructure including support of accessibility and human factors analysis;
  • Designing and leading pedestrian modelling approaches for projects and liaising with Mott MacDonald's global resources in modelling and analytics;
  • Leading the preparation and writing of technical reports detailing modelling approach, calibration and results;
  • Presenting modelling approaches and results to clients, the public and other technical and nontechnical audiences;
  • Creating and contributing to proposals;
  • Mentoring or managing junior staff with an interest in modelling;
  • Undertaking various project management duties such as managing projects, client engagement, work planning, budget monitoring, and project controls reporting.
  • Master's degree in Transportation Engineering, Planning, Economics, Geography or similar, or bachelor's degree with additional commensurate experience;
  • 10+ years of previous professional experience that includes extensive experience in leading pedestrian simulation initiatives;
  • Professional Engineer and/or Registered Professional Planner;
  • Must have a reputation for proficiency in one or more pedestrian modelling tools;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills including the communication of complex technical information to nontechnical audiences;
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and inclination toward developing transportation modellingbased opportunities for the business.
  • Proficiency with traffic and microsimulation environments such as Aimsun and VISSIM;
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills;
  • Demonstrable background of working both independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team; and
  • A history of achieving milestones and meeting deadlines.
