    Description

    Reporting to the Manager of Accounting Services, the role will involve clerical tasks related to verifying information on invoices before payment for the Accounts Payable Division of the Finance department. Responsibilities include handling all payment runs for the City's Accounts Payable process, utilizing PeopleSoft to ensure accuracy of vouchers, matching attachments to checks, and addressing inquiries from vendors and city service areas. The position also involves supervising temporary help during high volume periods, running financial reports, and providing documentation for various types of payments. Additionally, ensuring compliance with accounts payable procedures, training support staff, and performing backup duties for other roles within the department are key aspects of the job. Occupational Health & Safety responsibilities as per the Corporation's Health and Safety Program are also part of the role.

      QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Must possess an Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma and have completed two years of post-secondary courses in Accounting, Business, or Finance, or equivalent qualifications recognized by the Ontario Ministry of Education.
    • The ideal candidate should be self-sufficient, capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
    • Prior experience with the PeopleSoft Financial System would be advantageous.
    • Physical demands for this position are deemed to be at a light level.
