Title:
Field Inspection Services Co-op Student - Thunder Bay


Position Summary:


Hatch is seeking a Field Inspection Services Co-op Student with an interest in Power Transmission Systems (transmission lines and substations) for a 4- to 8- month internship.

You will work as part of the Owner's Engineer team on the Wataynikaneyap Power Transmission Project, which is an unprecedented First Nations led project to build 230 kV, 115 kV, 44 kV and 25 kV transmission lines and substations in northwestern Ontario.

Responsibilities:


  • Monitor the contractors' activities in the field
  • Quality inspections and reporting
  • Progress inspections and reporting
  • Review engineering drawings and observe their implementation in the field
  • Inspect material for transmission lines and substations
  • Actively participate in the creation of technical reports and presentations to clients

Education and Experience:


  • 3rd or 4th year Engineering student, or student of trade schools
  • Strong academic record
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Competencies (knowledge, skill, attributes):


  • Good understanding of engineering and construction fundamentals
  • Ability to learn quickly and to take on new challenges
  • Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
