POSITION BACKGROUND:


The HSLP Advisor will champion all the Health and Safety Programs to ensure losses to people, property and processes are minimized.


CORE DUTIES:

Compliance_

  • Ensure compliance with legal and other requirements
  • Oversee the completion of investigations and review thoroughly for underlying causes and SMART corrective actions
  • Take the lead role in investigations when required
  • Oversee weekly safety meetings in all Ketek Group buildings in Edmonton and ensure the proper distribution of minutes to all Branches and worksite locations
  • Facilitate Formal Hazard Assessments for quotes, ongoing projects, startups, and post project reviews
  • Complete regular HSLP site inspections as outlined in the Loss Prevention Program
  • Handle clients' safety requests and requirements for safetyrelated issues
  • Responsible for biannual inspections of all branches and selected field sites, as defined by the HSLP Manager

Program Facilitation_

  • Coach and mentorDevelop, implement, and maintain written HSLP programs, and procedures
  • Help to identify, support, and oversee key emergency response initiatives and training opportunities to strengthen emergency response capabilities
  • Provide advice to the Joint Work Site Health and Safety Committee

Daily Administration_

  • Provide advice regarding Hazard management practices
  • Review Hazard Assessments, Near Misses, Hazard Identifications and other proactive reports. Prepare and present findings to management and HSLP Manager

Other Duties_

  • Fill in all HSLP roles as needed for emergencies
  • Assist with training and the implementation of safety initiatives
  • Help plan and participate in internal or external audits
  • Promote a culture of safety excellence
  • Fill required paperwork
  • Observe all safety procedures and use proper Personal Protective Equipment
  • Ensure that all of Ketek policies and Occupational Health and Safety regulations are followed
  • Be considerate of the needs of our community and the environment
  • Represent Ketek in a light that is commensurate with the values of Management and the Corporate Vision and Mission Statements

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

-
Required_

  • NCSO designation
  • Fluent in the English language (reading, written, spoken)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a safety role
  • Minimum 5 years of oilfield and/or construction experience
  • Valid Class 5 driver's licence with clean driver's abstract
  • Able to deal with the public in a positive, courteous, and respectful manner
  • Able to handle multiple tasks and frequent demanding deadlines
  • Able to handle changing schedules and priorities, with highlevel prioritization skills
  • Strong work ethic and organizational planning skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Effective verbal and listening communication skills

Preferred_

  • Occupational Health and Safety Certificate
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) Designation
  • At least one year experience in the corporate office environment and 3 years prior field experience

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work Environment_

  • Office environment (65%) and field/shop environment (35%)
  • May be required to work weekends and outside of regular office hours


  • On call 24/

  • Pre-Access drug and alcohol testing may be required for Client site visits

Job Types:
