About the role
The House of Commons' Digital Service and Real Property team is currently looking to staff a Systems Technician position.

The Systems Technician is the technical expert that is a member of a team of professionals that are responsible for designing,
upgrading, installing, and maintaining audiovisual systems and assimilating new technologies and equipment into the broadcasting,
videoconferencing, and live-event services at the Parliament of Canada.

What you need Completion of trade school, college or university degree or certificate in a field related to audio-visual


Education production, technical production, media arts and technology, electrical engineering, electronics or an
acceptable combination of education, technical training, and experience.

  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in technical support and problem solving for a wide range of
equipment and systems (sound, broadcasting, webcasting, videoconferencing and simultaneous
interpretation), including finding solutions to technical problems;

  • Experience in the design, testing and implementation of systems and equipment to respond to unique
client requirements and event support parameters;

Experience Experience assisting with the management of small
- to medium-sized projects; helping to define

requirements; designing, documenting, testing, creating and implementing technical solutions and
systems;

  • Experience with high level client relations and effective handling of service requests and technical
issues.

  • Knowledge of various technical equipment (sound, broadcasting, webcasting, videoconferencing and
simultaneous interpretation);

  • Knowledge of the principles of electronics;
  • Knowledge of how to assemble equipment racks: reading plans and technical diagrams, and thermal,

Other
cable and electrical systems management;

  • Experience and/or training in Crestron, AMX, QSC, Extron, Media Matrix, Evertz, Televic and Bosch
programming systems;

  • Knowledge of the principles of network computing (types of routers and switches, basic IP, MAC).
