Senior Cost Accountant1 yr contract Hybrid 2 days in office, Mississauga Location $85,000The Sr. Accountant is responsible to lead the cost accounting function.The individual is responsible for analyzing direct costs that impact material margin as well as providing analysis of over/under application.
This position will lead the finance team on various projects and duties, reporting back to the Controller, CFO and involving Procurement, Sales and Operations teams as appropriate.
Major tasks and duties:
Lead the annual labour and overhead rate calculationsWork on cost saving projects with operations and supply chainWork on activity based costingAnalysis on contract margin and weighted average cost Clear accrued freight and purchases; requires investigation of any discrepanciesAnalyze and provide feedback on inbound transportation costs markupsAnalyze and provide feedback on outbound transportation costs markupsValidate the labour IDs and ensure that the hrs allocation to production lines are accurateOwn the MCPs (Matching Competitor Prices) rebate process which includes entering rebates, working with procurement to submit the rebates to the vendors and following up on the rebate outstanding to be received.
Support finance team with analyzing the GL accountsSupport for Controller and Finance staff when necessaryComplete all other duties as assigned by ControllerEnsure compliance with all health and safety regulations, GMP's and HACCP requirements KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:College/University diploma/degree in Finance or Accounting.
CPA designation preferred but not required3 years' of cost accounting experienceExposure to food manufacturing and distribution an assetStrong communication skillsInteracts professionally at all levels both internally and externallyAbility to give strong attention to detail and accuracy of workTime management and adaptable to change is importantStrong knowledge of MS Office, specifically Excel
